“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” John 11:25

It is difficult to think clearly after experiencing a weekend like we just had. So many new faces, so many new decisions, so many broken spirits. After talking about 7 weeks of leaving things behind and then culminating with confessing total utter failure and placing ourselves at the foot of the cross to allow that failure to be brought forth to completion which of course is death…but with death comes resurrection! Now what on earth are we to do? I’m fried personally, I’m thinking man what else do we have left? And then that word keeps shouting forth…..RESURRECTION!

We of course now have and many of us have had an unlimited power supply left. We are new creations. We are the people in whose lives are now hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). You know that God…that inexhaustible and never out resourced God? Yes, that God and He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

I was so in awe on Friday night at the Good Friday service, as I finished the prayer before opening up the floor to the cross, I began singing with my head down on purpose in order to give those that were coming to the cross privacy to nail those things and leave them behind. When I went to look up, I was looking up in order to better get an idea of how much longer to sing and in which way to direct the song and I expected to see a few people gathered around the cross. I was immediately left breathless as I looked up and saw a line all the way to the back of the auditorium and many of us just simply left in a broken state. Mike Alfaro later said he thinks we set a record for the length of playing “The Heart of Worship.” Seeing the entire auditorium was repentant and broken, if you wondered what God was doing during that time, see the below verse:

Isaiah 57:15 “The high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, the Holy One, says this: "I live in that high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I refresh the humble and give new courage to those with repentant hearts.” NLT

That high and lofty God, who for many seems so out of touch and out of reach, instead He at that moment of brokenness was taking up His dwelling place with the lowly of heart. Life came down, resurrection was there again.

So where should we all move on to from here? If we have sincerely left things behind that means we have left more room for God to speak to us and with more room to hear His voice, means that we should expect action to be taken. As we continue to mature spiritually and that resurrected life continues to unfold within us, it means we begin to spread our wings, the Easter season, like the Christmas season becomes 365 days long for we are resurrected, there is new life. New life means new eyes. Things you have overlooked in the past should not pass you by now. New life means you have new ears. Sounds, voices and teaching you once ignored or avoided become clearer in your ears. New life means you have a new body. It matters what you do with your hands, feet, mouth, tongue and mind. Resurrection changes everything.

You went to the cross an utter failure, but leave that failure there at the cross, for Resurrection happened, victory over ultimate failure was won, you are a new victorious creation. Believe in Him. Learn from Him. Stay with Him. Serve Him.

Questions to Ask Yourself:

1. Now that you’ve had the courage to leave something behind, what is Christ calling you toward so you won’t go back and pick it up again?

Don’t sit still! Get on that new path that God has for you as quickly as possible!
